New Buffalo Respite

This modern corrugated metal and concrete panel house, designed by Architect Stanley Tigerman is a perfect combination of country and Modern. Inspired by Midwest rural architecture, the house is basically two rectangles and two circles that surround a secret garden hidden away in an enclosed courtyard.

The house’s steel gray exterior is accented by barn red trim which served as inspiration for the interior palette choices. The vibrant hue is repeated in varying shades in rugs, fabrics and accessories throughout the house and is balanced with muted olive tones and rich browns. Comfort is the operative word here, with inviting sofas centered on a large fireplace in the living room. The house is further personalized with family antiques, rustic farm machinery turned décor and other nostalgic collections. Adding to the country charm, the interior includes a ceiling clad in reclaimed barn boards.

While modern in its construction materials, the house evokes a more casual and rustic vibe. The home is designed so there can be a full appreciation of the beautiful setting, surrounded by trees on a bluff overlooking the Galien River.
